Niko Bellic’s story – GTA IV

GTA IV

Over many years, Rockstar Games built games that tried to bring stuff that we, decent and equipped in a brain people, do not do, into the gaming world. What kind of stuff?

Well, stealing, killing crazy amounts of people, driving over pedestrians, selling drugs, dealing with mafia is simply all Grand Theft Auto series is about. There are many reasons of why they succeeded in doing that – but as the biggest one I’d name openess of the world. It’s truly eye-popping how in GTA we can do almost everything we want, without being limited to very closed areas, simple missions and very few other possibilities.

Life is complicated; I killed people, smuggled people, sold people. Perhaps here, things will be different

And usually, this advantage was just enough to bring thousands of gamers in front of their machines. But with GTA IV, Rockstar took it even further. The game finally consists not only of huge world, but also of a plot that is very appealing to most of us and huge number of other improvements.

Modern Warfare 2, NOW!

Call of Duty

I’m not some kinda gamer that sits all days before a computer or other device and keeps succeeding at another games. In fact, I am pretty lame if it comes to playing in many kinds of games. My biggest problem is, that most of productions people are amazed about, I find totally boring. Yeah, something IS wrong with me. Example? Bioshock. Bought on a latest sale on Steam, I just played it for about 15 minutes and turned off. And it was my last contact with this shitty game (sorry!).

Although, what I always loved, are series like GTA, MoH and CoD. Always enjoyed them. The last one dragged me in especially. Infinity Ward with its one of the latest creations, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare created the best single player’s FPS experience ever. Seriously, everyone has to see it.

Gameloft’s crap for the iPhone

Gameloft

I was totally ok with Gameloft making copies of their games on other platforms to the iPhone. They had to start with something, and that looked like a good opportunity. But now they definitely should stop with this shit and get some people to make their products at least a bit innovative.

We got Symbian OS, we got Windows Mobile, and finally, we got iPhone OS.
I think we all are aware of a fact, that this last one is a bit different – completely margined approaches to user, set of features and quantity of devices. Products for these platforms should be handled completely differently – controls, graphics…

Developers from Gameloft just don’t care. Recently they released Assassin’s Creed for the iPhone – looked huge on the beginning, but as always with their products, it came out as copy of same game for Symbian OS (proved, been testing it with a E61 owner), which is slightly stupid considering their experience with creating games for iPhone.
